Staying active during a pandemic can get tough. We are also starting to get busy with school and jobs, which means less time to get into an active routine and easy to forget about. We have some tips on staying active and what you can do.
Always warm up and cool down. This exercise tip will help you maintain your mobility and flexibility and prevent injury. Take 5-10 minutes to gradually raise your heart rate at the beginning of a workout and lower it afterward.
Set goals. Force yourself to get 30 minutes of physical activity everyday. Then, you can include a reward at the end of the week so it is something to work towards. Also, know what you want to work and focus on. Whether is it abs, arms, legs etc. This will determine your type of physical activity.
Make getting fit enjoyable. If you do exercises you enjoy, it will make it easier to do it daily. Most likely if you do not enjoy what you are doing you are not going to be happy or be motivated to do it.
Choose activities that suit your lifestyle. Everyone has different lifestyles and what they enjoy. Some people will get there daily exercise by simply going on a long walk. Others will do straight cardio. Depends on your goals.
Plan ahead for bad weather. If it is supposed to rain and you were planning on going for a run, think of a replacement that can be done indoor. Do not use it as excuse have back up workouts as replacements.
Keep some exercise equipment at home. For examples, weights, bands, etc. This can help open up options for other possible work outs. Get active around the house. Try and make what you do daily into an active version. Maybe while you are watching Netflix, instead of sitting there do some stationary workouts. You can even keep your mind active by reading a good book or doing a crossword puzzle.
Go outside for some fresh air and activity. It is important to go outside now and then, even if its just for a walk around the block or go to one of the trails nearby and you can enjoy the beautiful view of nature while doing your daily physical activity, fresh air is good for your own personal well being and health.
